Here are some visualization tools I've used throughout research to get a better intuition for the physics and data that I'm working with!

Feel free to use the sliders to play around with these visualizations.

For context, when I was studying brown dwarfs, I wanted to know how much more stellar irradiation there was at perihelion (closest approach) versus aphelion, so this tool helped me a lot!

Planet equilibrium temperature

Planet equilibrium temperature diagram Drag the planet around its orbit or use the controls to change the system. Set eccentricity to zero for a circular orbit.

Blackbody spectrum

Blackbody spectral luminosity Planck's law for a sphere, with wavelength in micrometres and spectral luminosity in solar luminosities per micrometre.

Change the sphere radius to change the total luminosity for a blackbody function.
